Volunteers Needed!
October 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (2026)
Spring Valley Kiwanis coordinates the volunteers for the Tarantino Sausage Booth in the Hofbrauhaus Biergarten. In exchange, the Tarantino family makes a donation to the Spring Valley Kiwanis Club's scholarship program. We need to fill 120 volunteer slots over the course of the weekend event, so feel free to invite friends or family members to volunteer with you! We give community service hours to high school students and college students.
By volunteering, you're helping to make a difference in the lives of the middle school students who receive the club's Herman Anderson Award every year!
You can volunteer for more than one shift, but we don't recommend volunteering for the entire day (it's too hot and there's no place to rest in the booth).
FREE MEAL! Volunteers receive a free bratwurst & side dishes during their shift.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

FRIDAY shifts are: 3-7pm (4-7pm for students) and 6:30-10:00pm

SATURDAY shifts are: 9:30am-1:30pm (10:30am-1:30pm for students), 1:00-4:00pm, 3:30-7:30pm, 7-10pm

SUNDAY shifts are: 11am-2pm (11:30am-2pm for students), 1:30-4:30pm, 4-8pm
Shifts are either 3 hours or 4 hours long. Volunteers need to attend the entire shift. Volunteers will be standing while they're doing their tasks. There are a few chairs in the break area in the booth. We provide a letter to students who require verification of their volunteer hours.

Tasks Only Adults Are Allowed to Do
Grilling brats and cooking the sauerkraut, onions, and German potato salad, and cooking potato pancakes. NOTE: ADULTS, PLEASE sign up for the "Adults Only" shifts first so that we can make sure that those are full. If all of the Adults Only shifts are full, then you can sign up for one of the student/adult shifts.
Tasks for High School & College Students & Adults
Prepping food, serving food, transferring food trays from warmers to serving area, helping at the pretzel and potato pancake station, replenishing the condiment station, washing pans.
BEER:
The Tarantino Sausage Booth is located inside the Biergarten, but no beer is sold or served in the Tarantino Sausage Booth. Volunteers stay behind the Tarantino booth walls, but will have to walk through the Biergarten to enter/exit the area.
HOW TO FIND THE BOOTH:
Tarantino Sausage Booth is in the Hofbrauhaus Biergarten on Allison Avenue. THE VOLUNTEER ENTRANCE IS LOCATED NEAR 8340 ALLISON AVENUE, LA MESA. Put that address in your map app and it will help you find the volunteer entrance. Have your ride drop you off at Palm Ave / Allison Ave or Pine St / Allison Ave. (See maps below). If you can’t find the entrance, call the Spring Valley Kiwanis Club President Mrs. Lisa Stewart at 619x456x7450. (NOTE: the "x" breaks up the number so that bots don't capture the phone number)
BRING:

An apron (if you have one)

Clean work gloves if you are grilling

Hair tie or baseball cap to pull your hair back

Comfortable, closed-toe shoes (you'll be standing for most of your shift)

Water bottle(s) filled with cold water

Wear sunscreen and sunglasses if working a day shift (there is very little shade in the booth)

Fully charged cell phone or battery to recharge your phone
